愛媛県愛南町の清水雅文町長は７月22日、未事業化区間となっている四国横断自動車道・宿毛～内海間の早期事業化等を求める要望活動を行った。例年、上京し直接国交省三役などに要望してきたが、今年度は新型コロナウイルス感染症拡大防止の観点から、町の喫緊の課題や取組みを紹介するＤＶＤを製作。愛媛県東京事務所企画調整課が要望書などを配布し、今後、愛媛県選出国会議員も支援する予定。
制作されたＤＶＤは、南海トラフ地震による最大17㍍の大津波や、長期浸水による国道56号の寸断が懸念されている愛媛県最南端の町の状況を伝えるもの。「宿毛～内海」間は18年に計画段階評価が完了となり、高速道路のルート帯は、津波浸水の影響を受けない箇所に計画されている。
同区間に町が建設を計画している休憩施設も、防災拠点化される構想となっており、清水町長は「特に空港から遠く、鉄道や高速道路もない愛南町にとって、災害拠点
間を確実に連絡する道路網の整備は地域の生命線であり、新規事業化は町民の悲願」と訴えた。
ＤＶＤ＝写真下＝は、観光ＰＲ用オリジナルソング♪ビヤビヤ★ロックをＢＧＭに、県立南宇和高校放送部がナレーションを担当し、町消防本部、水産加工会社「愛南サン・フィッシﾕ」の協力により、開通への期待を語るなど、町一丸となって制作にあたった。
